Famille Joly de la Coulee 2021 Les Vieux Clos Savennieres

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Les Vieux Clos displays a straw-yellow color and opens with a deep, clear, elegant, concentrated and very complex bouquet of ripe yellow-fleshed fruits (mirabelles, persimmons, passion fruit), quinces and pears intertwined with schist and iodine notes of crushed stones and quartz as well as floral aromas. The exciting impression of the nose is proceeded on the palate, where this full-bodied and fiery Savennières has a seamless texture and a crystalline as well as elegant structure with ripe and concentrated fruit and lingering crystalline and salty acidity.

The Joly family, represented by Nicolas Joly, his daughter Virginie (since 2002) and his son Vincent (2016), is the eponymous producer at Château de la Roche aux Moines, which is located within the world-famous seven-hectare monopole Clos de la Coulée de Serrant in Savennières.

The Les Vieux Clos, from 25- to 30-year-old vines on a 5.5-hectare clos is planted on light, east-facing slopes in the mountainous Savennières appellation with slightly sandy soil. The resulting wine is an authentic representative of this particular origin, allowing the natural character of the sites to shine through and "no enology," as Nicolas would put it.
