Darroze Vintage 1979 Bas-Armagnac Domaine le Tuc à Lagraulas

49% ABV, 750 ml

Made from 50% Baco, 50% Ugni Blanc

One of our favorite Negociants in the Armagnac world is Francis Darroze. His specialty is buying brandy from small producers scattered around Gascony, and finishing the brandy in his cellars. They are all bottled at cask strength, and bottled as vineyard designated, vintage-dated Armagnacs. Each one is a masterpiece.

The older Armagnacs are constructed from 100% Bacco, a grape known more for its bass, producing a full-bodied and “fat” Armagnac. The Bacco of Gascony is slowly being phased out—“hybrid” grapes like Bacco soon will no longer be allowed in the AOC region.

Tasting Notes from the Producer

Beautiful golden color with amber tints. The nose is pungent, intense. Aromas of prune, orange peel and dried fig accompany the fine spices (pepper, nutmeg). On the palate, the tannins are round and supple and these same spicy and fruity notes are present (licorice, clove, white pepper). Beautiful length.

Bottle Size: All bottles are 750ML unless otherwise noted.
