Chateau Vignot 2011 Saint Emilion Grand Cru

Description

Château Vignot’s vineyards lie at the foot of the Côte de Saint-Émilion. The alluvial soils of sandy clay and gravel on these 25 acres, coupled with ideal south west sun exposure, allow the fruit to develop an extraordinary aromatic expressiveness, particularly for Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Nurturing this relationship between ideal sun exposure, the soil, the vines and the elements helps to produce wines that are deep in color, approachable and elegant, and exhibit a more ‘feminine’ style of mature round tannins and silky texture than their counterparts up the slope.

AGE OF THE VINES
25-40 years

COMPOSITION
70% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon

TASTING NOTES
The 2011 Château Vignot beautifully expresses the unique terroir of our estate’s foothill vineyards. Bright in color, it offers fresh, enticing aromas of red berries that carry through to the palate. This is a round, complex wine with ripe, well-integrated tannins and notes of pepper and vanilla. The Cabernet Sauvignon brings elegant, subtle fruit and depth to this classic Saint-Émilion Merlot-Cabernet Franc blend.
