"The first blended malt to carry the Chivas Regal name was created as a tribute to the legacy of the five master blenders, from Charles Howard in 1895 to Colin Scott. Malts from five of Pernod Ricard’s Speyside distilleries (Strathisla, Longmorn, Tormore, Allt-a-Bhainne, and Braeval) were used to create intricate and elaborate flavors. Even more enchanting than the story are the aromas of fresh red apple, cherry, peach, and mango, mingled with cinnamon and dry heather. This luxurious whisky delivers dark vanilla, soft fruits, chocolate-dipped Brazil nuts, and is cloaked in sumptuous layers of caramel, wood spices, and gingersnaps. Outstanding. —Jonny McCormick"
"The first blended malt Scotch whisky from the House of Chivas Regal"
Ultis is a combination of five single malts: Tormore, Longmorn, Strathisla, Allt A’Bhainne and Braeval.
The new expression is designed to be a tribute to the five master blenders who have maintained the Chivas house style since 1909: Charles Howard, Charles Julian, Allan Baillie, Jimmy Lang and current custodian master blender Colin Scott.
The five master blenders – and the five single malts – are referenced in the whisky’s packaging, which features a pen-clip closure etched with five rings, and the Roman figure five (V) on the base and label.
Describing the blend, Scott highlighted the ‘crystalline freshness’ of Tormore, the ‘contrasting hint of spicy warmth’ from Allt A’Bhainne, balance from Longmorn, the floral style of Braeval and the fruity sweetness of Strathisla.
He added: ‘Chivas Regal Ultis is a blend that draws on expertise that has been handed down throughout the centuries, and it will delight whisky connoisseurs around the world.’
