Delas 2015 Crozes-Hermitage Le Clos

"This pretty wine sports a pure, enticing beam of cassis and crushed plum fruit flavors. Silky but persistent, dense but defined, ending with violet, iron and anise accents on the finish. Drink now through 2027. 50 cases imported." Wine Spectator 94 Points

"The 2015 Crozes Hermitage le Clos is the high-end Crozes bottling from Delas Frères, aged 14-16 months in French oak. Give it some time in the glass to open up if you try one soon, as it's tight and closed at first, gradually developing floral notes and showing more black cherry and blackberry fruit. In the mouth, it's velvety and concentrated, gradually fading on the finish into hints of licorice and black pepper. This medium to full-bodied 100% Syrah drinks well now (with air) but should evolve well for at least another decade.

The duo of Jacques Grange and Claire Darnaud continues to turn out fine examples of Northern Rhône wines from the company's vineyards in Hermitage, Saint Joseph, Côte Rôtie and Condrieu. In all of these, the top cuvées are from single parcels and sourced entirely from the firm's own vineyards. The star holding is 14 acres in Hermitage's Les Bessards, but don't overlook the other wines coming from this consistently outstanding producer." Robert Parker 94 Points
