What a deal for a Saint-Émillion Grand Cru!
Located on the Côte de Saint-Émilion, the vineyards of Château Lassègue are blessed with both extraordinary soils and extraordinary south/south-west exposition to the sun. In discovering the unique micro-crus of the property, Vigneron Pierre Seillan realized he could produce more than one wine to showcase the diversity of the estate. Primarily a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, Les Cadrans de Lassègue, the estate’s second label, is refined and elegant, a beautiful and perfect expression of its fruit.
AGE OF THE VINES
90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc
After a normal spring, rain and clouds defined the difficult 2015 summer. But starting August 27th, the weather patterns changed drastically to bring a warm, dry, sunny spell that lasted through harvest. As a result, the grapes benefited from a long hang time leaving allowing greater fruit maturity. The later ripening Cabernet Franc thrived in the perfectly timed Indian summer.
Very beautiful deep and brilliant red color with spices on the nose. A lot of finesse on the palate with nutmeg and white pepper flavors. A very balanced wine that develops a good length on the palate and a mineral finish. Fine and persistent tannins. This vintage of Les Cadrans can age 5 to 10 years.
