Bright ruby red fading to a pink rim. Pure, soft, ripe fruit nose with plenty of strawberry and red cherry notes, along with hints of mulberry, damson, loganberry and graphite. Round, ripe, and smoothly textured. Firm tannic profile and relative youth that reflects the age of the vines. Plenty of ripe red and blue fruit notes with strawberry, blueberry and red cherry, along with hints of cinnamon, toast, kirsch and mocha.
This Volnay Vielles Vignes was produced from Pinot Noir sites with an average age of over 60 years, harvested from sites to the east and southeast of the historic village of Volnay. The growing season and harvest were fine for Pinot Noir, with lovely ripeness of fruit, purity and structure. Bottled after 14 months in barrel, this is a wine of real elegance, purity and finesse. A delicious wine to drink by itself or an ideal accompaniment to roast duck, white game meats.
