Roar 2016 Pinot Noir Santa Lucia Highlands

Roar Wines produces limited production Pinot Noir, Syrah, Chardonnay and Viognier from grapes grown at the Rosella’s, Garys’, Sierra Mar, Soberanes and Pisoni vineyards in Monterey’s famed Santa Lucia Highlands.

Tasting Notes

Drawing on aspects of all of our vineyards, our 2016 Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir is a wonderful expression of what the region has to offer. Dark fruit, leather, and toasted oak with light overtones of honey evolve into blackberry, cola and cherry, opening to include chocolate shavings and floral accents. A woody, almost evergreen, perfume enriches the lower-tone fruit through a long, dense, meaty finish full of tobacco, leather, cherry and blackberry.

Winemaker Notes

Grapes for our 2016 Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir were harvested August 18-September 9th at 25.6 - 28.4 brix. The juice spent an average of 28 days on the skins before being pressed to French oak barrels for 10 months aging. The wine was racked once, and bottled unfiltered and unfined in July 2016.
