Domaine Armand Rousseau 2014 Gevry-Chambertin

Wine Spectator 92 Points: "A broad red, offering cherry and woodsy flavors and accents of spice and stone. Juicy and solid, with a long, spice- and cherry-laced finish. Best from 2020 through 2033. 84 cases imported."

Robert Parker 89-91 Points: "The 2014 Gevrey Chambertin Villages has a strict, stony bouquet with wet limestone notes percolating through the veneer of red berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin. There is not huge weight or concentration here, but it is very well balanced and poised with a taut, minerally finish that is linear and fresh. Very fine.

Apparently Charles Rousseau is 92-years-old now. He no longer occupies the cabin on the right-hand side by the gate and remains at his home just a stone's throw away from the domaine. Even though this legend is no longer there to greet visitors, give them the once over, his legacy continues with his wines. As usual, I was accompanied by the ever congenial Frédéric Robert. He accompanied me around the barrels and he was as candid as ever......"

"Good bright red. Sexy, very ripe Gevrey-typical aromas of dark cherry, spices and game show an almost candied quality. Boasts lovely silky texture for this village wine, with red fruit and spice flavors leading to a ripely tannic if slightly edgy finish. This should be a relatively easygoing wine with early appeal." Stephen Tanzer
