Cask 23 is Stag’s Leap’s iconic estate blend, crafted from their premier S.L.V. and Fay vineyards. Named after a standout “cask 23” from 1974, it has since become a flagship Napa Cabernet. This magnum of the stellar 2006 vintage reflects both the vineyard’s heritage and premium production—even more impactful in an age-slowing bottle format.
The bouquet opens with enticing scents of jarred blackberries, sweet cassis, mocha, and violets, layered with spicy touches of nutmeg and cedar. The invitation is full-bodied yet refined.
Huge dark fruit flavors—black cherry, plum, and cassis—are accompanied by velvety tannins and elegant structure. Underlying notes of mocha, vanilla oak, and subtle baking spices provide a polished counterpoint to the fruit richness.
