This outstanding tequila was originally created by Master Distiller German Gonzalez to be part of his private stock. Now, lucky tequila lovers get to enjoy it as well. It is handcrafted in small batches, using agave picked at peak ripeness. The tequila goes through five years of aging in various barrels, including Scotch whisky, sherry, and cognac. Gonzalez then blends the different barrels together to reach his desired flavor profile. Tears of Llorona is a beautiful hue of golden amber, with scents of black cherries, creme brulee, and chocolate on the nose. In the glass it's medium-bodied, heavenly smooth, and complex. Few tequilas can match the complex flavor profile, which blends caramel, toffee, anise, cinnamon, and dried fruit. The finish is long and spicy, and will leave you wanting more. This complex, delicious extra anejo is a masterpiece.
