Turley 2017 Zinfandel Duarte Contra Costa County

"This wine is an homage to Joe Duarte, a prominent grape grower in Contra Costa who first introduced Turley to the incredible vineyards of the area. The wine is comprised of fruit from the turn-of-the-century Evangehlo, Mori and Salvador vineyards, planted between 1890 and 1930. As a result of the sandy soils and impressive age of the vines, the wine has some of the softest, silkiest tannins we’ve ever seen in a Zinfandel."

"The 2017 Zinfandel Duarte comes from three vineyards planted between 1890 and 1930, with own-rooted vines in sandy soils. Medium to deep ruby-purple in color, it opens with warm cinnamon toast, shaved nutmeg and touches of candied peach over a core of sliced blueberries and warm black cherries with earthy nuances. Medium to full-bodied, it has great intensity in the mouth, with black and blue fruits and spicy layers, great juicy acidity and a structuring frame of ripe, grainy tannins, finishing long and flavorful. 1,500 cases produced."
