Voerzio Martini 2016 Barolo

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

"The Voerzio Martini 2016 Barolo evolves nicely in the glass and unfolds to show an impactful bouquet that gradually folds into spice, tar, leather and licorice. The wine moves nicely along that aromatic continuum, driven forward by the length and silky nature of the mouthfeel. This is a compact and tight Barolo; however, it also has an approachable personality that makes it a good choice for near and medium-term drinking. Some 5,000 bottles were made.

Twins Mirko and Federica Martini purchased the Gianni Voerzio winery in La Morra from their cousin in 2015. The estate name changed from Gianni Voerzio to Voerzio Martini and a renewal process was initiated to enlarge the winery and add new vineyards. In 2015, the twins purchased an additional hectare and a half in the La Serra cru, and in 2018, the pair acquired a quarter hectare of vines in Monvigliero and a half hectare in Cerequio. They also introduced a new white wine, a Timorasso, made with fruit from a leased vineyard in the Colli Tortonesi area. Mirko is the winemaker and Federica manages the office."
