The 2020 release of Outryder is now 7 years, 10 months of age and has gained more matured, complex aromas in the arid climate of Kirby, WY. This season’s Outryder features savory, sweet, and spicy notes of dried tobacco leaves, Jamaican allspice cake batter with golden raisins, almond butter, old cedar chest, and walnut baklava drizzled with dark honey and orange blossom water.
The Wyoming "Outryder" Straight American Whiskey is a 100 Proof, rye-forward multi-grain whiskey from the Wyoming Distillery. This is not a sourced Whiskey, but made in Wyoming.
Wyoming Whiskey is the state’s first legal distillery, reportedly started by Brad and Kate Mead and David DeFazio, who then invited Steve Nally to come help them make bourbon. Nally is the name most bourbon enthusiasts might recognize, as he is a Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame inductee who spent 33 years at Maker’s Mark, almost half of them as Master Distiller.
"Wyoming Whiskey has, in Outryder, crafted the first Wyoming-made straight American whiskey using rye. This project is the sum of two parts, different mash bills created and blended to bring forth the fusion of craft bourbons and ryes. The first, representing a high-rye whiskey (although not technically a “rye whiskey,” as it contains less than 51% rye), utilizes 48% rye, 40% corn, and 12% malted barley. The second, inspired by classic bourbon, utilizes 68% corn, 20% rye, and 12% malted barley." The Whiskey Wash, By Jim Bonomo
