Looking for a weeknight red, that isn’t Cab or Pinot? A bottle from an under-loved AVA? What about a winery that practices dry farming and is certified organic? Friends, your beloved and trusty hound has hunted up Stolpman Vineyard’s 2023 La Cuadrilla!
Produced in a hidden hillside along the Santa Barbara coast, Ballard Canyon houses a terroir to rival Northern Rhône, perfect for this Syrah heavy GSM, with a smidge of Sangiovese to brighten the blend’s engaging florals, dark cherry and leather notes. Creative director at Stolpman, Kari Crist, also graces each new vintage with a fresh black and white design, which always references the label’s namesake, their year-round employed vineyard workers of the “cuadra” or small vineyard block. It’s an added touch that brings something new to admire for what’s sure to become a familiar favorite.
Great for weeknights, and even better on the weekend. Remember, it’s not drinking alone if the dog’s home!
Cheers
