PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Mijenta Añejo Gran Reserva is a luxurious tequila built for sipping — it offers a polished balance between the bright agave heart and rich oak maturation. Its multi-cask aging gives depth without overpowering the agave, making it elegant, smooth, and ideal for moments when you want something refined and contemplative. Definitely aimed at those who appreciate complexity, craftsmanship, and a tequila that tells a story of wood, terroir, and time.
Source / Distiller: Produced by Mijenta Tequila, under the guidance of Maestra Tequilera Ana María Romero.
Region: Made in Jalisco, Mexico (Arandas, NOM 1412) using 100% blue agave.
Aging / Wood: Aged a minimum of 18 months in four different bespoke casks: American white oak, French oak, French acacia, and cherry wood.
Expression / Release: Considered Mijenta’s “ultra-premium” offering. It’s limited production, intended for sipping neat.
ABV: 40% Alc/Vol.
| Element | Notes |
|---|---|
| Colour / Appearance | Rich golden colour with copper tones. Full-bodied and visually warm, showing the depth of its oak influence. |
| Nose / Aroma | Elegant aromas of cacao nib, cooked (roasted) agave, butterscotch, vanilla, with hints of tobacco. Subtle spice and dried fruit linger. |
| Palate / Taste | Smooth and velvety. Flavours of caramelised agave, toffee, dried cherries, vanilla, coffee and soft oak. A layered experience: dark fruit meets sweet agave meets subtle wood spices. |
| Finish | Lasting & lingering with warmth from oak, soft sweetness remaining (vanilla / butterscotch), with lingering spice and dried fruit tones. Clean and elegant rather than harsh. |
Here are some pairings to bring out the best in Mijenta Añejo Gran Reserva:
Rich meats / Savoury: Grilled or smoked meats such as pork ribs, lamb chops, or beef flank with char or smoke; the oak and smoke complement the wood-matured notes.
Earthy / Vegetal: Dishes with earthy grains (barley, farro), roasted root vegetables, mushrooms or truffle accents — these bring out the dried fruit and subtle spice.
Chocolate & Desserts: Dark chocolate desserts (70-80%), chocolate with nut or coffee accents; vanilla caramel ice cream; even desserts with mocha or salted toffee. The cacao and coffee nuances in the tequila dovetail nicely here.
Cheese & Nuts: Aged cheeses (Manchego, aged gouda), nutty cheeses; toasted nuts (almond, walnut), dried fruit (cherries, figs) to echo the fruit-oak interplay.
Light After-Dinner Tea / Floral Notes: A cup of mild black tea, or herbal / smoked teas; small sips alongside a cheese plate or dark chocolate work well.
