PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Nipozzano is one of the benchmark Chianti Rufina wines—structured, classic, and remarkably consistent. The 2022 vintage delivers vibrant Sangiovese fruit with freshness, floral lift, and refined tannins. This is a textbook Tuscan red: balanced, food-driven, and far more serious than its price suggests.
Origins & Craftsmanship
Produced by the historic Frescobaldi family, whose roots in Tuscany date back centuries, Nipozzano comes from the Castello di Nipozzano estate in the Chianti Rufina subzone—known for its cooler climate and higher elevation compared to central Chianti. These conditions preserve acidity and aromatics, resulting in more structured, age-worthy wines.
The wine is Sangiovese-dominant (≈90%), supported by small amounts of traditional and international varieties such as Malvasia Nera, Colorino, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel with extended maceration, followed by approximately 24 months of aging in oak (primarily second- and third-use barrels), which builds complexity while preserving freshness.
