PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Grand Bourjassot 2022 Gigondas is a powerful yet elegant Southern Rhône red that reflects the rugged beauty of the Dentelles de Montmirail foothills. Built on old-vine Grenache with supporting Rhône varieties, it delivers intense dark fruit, warm spice, and mineral depth framed by structured tannins. Rich yet balanced, this wine captures the classic style of Gigondas—bold, expressive, and capable of both immediate enjoyment and graceful aging.
Origins & Craftsmanship
Domaine du Grand Bourjassot is a family-run estate located on the western slopes of Gigondas in the Southern Rhône Valley, founded in 1993 and now run by Cécile Varenne, who expanded the vineyards and refined the estate’s winemaking approach.
Production is relatively small, with roughly 700 cases annually, reinforcing the wine’s artisanal character.
Critics Reviews
Wine Enthusiast notes that the wine shows “an energetic nose of ripe red cherry, clove, white pepper, and baking spice,” with a polished palate where red licorice and fruit integrate with developing tannins and structure.
Earlier vintages from the estate have also received strong critical recognition, including 92 points from Vinous critic Josh Raynolds, highlighting the wine’s detailed fruit and structured finish.
