Ardbeg Distillery sits on the southern coast of Islay, Scotland, a region famous for producing intensely peated single malt whiskies. Founded in 1815 and now owned by LVMH, Ardbeg is known for some of the smokiest malts in Scotland, often showcasing powerful peat smoke balanced by sweetness and maritime notes.

Each year the distillery releases a special bottling for Ardbeg Day, celebrated on the final Saturday of the island’s Festival of Music and Malt (Fèis Ìle). These limited releases have become highly collectible among whisky enthusiasts worldwide.

For the 2026 edition, Master Blender Dr. Gillian Macdonald created Ardbeg Dolce by marrying whisky matured in classic ex-bourbon barrels with casks that previously held Marsala Dolce, the sweetest style of Sicily’s fortified wine. The Marsala casks introduce lush dessert-like notes while amplifying Ardbeg’s signature smoky character—a flavor combination the distillery describes as a “peaty paradox” of sweetness and smoke.

The whisky is bottled at approximately 47.8% ABV (95.6 proof), offering a balance of intensity and drinkability compared to the higher-proof Committee releases often seen in previous years.
