PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Château de Bligny Blanc de Blancs is a refined, elegant Champagne that leans into the pure expression of Chardonnay. It offers finesse more than power, freshness more than richness. If you enjoy a wine that’s crisp, mineral, and floral—with enough texture and nuance to reward slow sipping—this Blanc de Blancs delivers. It’s ideal as an aperitif or paired with lighter fare.
Producer: Château de Bligny, a grower-producer in the Aube (Côte des Bars), Champagne. It is notable as the only “Château” in Champagne to hold the title as a Château and handle all stages of production on estate vineyards.
Vineyard / Terroir: 100% Chardonnay, vines grown on steep, limestone-rich slopes in the village of Bligny. The soils include Kimmeridgian limestone, typical of the Côte des Bar.
Blend & Dosage: Non-vintage (NV); dosage around 8 g/L.
Vinification: Traditional method; aged on lees to develop texture and aroma.
| Element | Notes |
|---|---|
| Colour / Appearance | Sublime light gold, pale golden robe; bright and clear. |
| Nose / Aroma | White-fleshed seed fruits, stewed stone fruit; subtle spring floral notes; touches of salinity; a delicate hint of sea air; freshness and citrus underlay. |
| Palate / Taste | Flowery and fruity: frangipani, white fruits (apple, maybe pear), citrus zest; clean and crisp texture; lively acidity; mineral backbone. |
| Finish |
Structured, long; notes of caramelized peanuts (a nutty finish), mineral/saline elements; lingering freshness; touch of toast or nougat in some expressions. |
Here are suggestions for foods that complement this Champagne well:
Fresh seafood — especially oysters, shellfish (like scallops, shrimp) to echo its saline and citrus notes.
Delicate fish dishes (e.g. sea bass with light seasoning) or ceviche.
Light cheeses: goat cheese, mild triple-creams; or aged hard cheeses in small amounts, to bring out the fruit & nutty finish.
Aperitif: stands nicely alone as an elegant aperitif, with its floral, crisp character preparing the palate.
Light appetizers with citrus or herb dressing; fruits like apple, pear; maybe even tempura vegetables or lightly salted nuts to contrast the wine’s minerality.
