PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
This 2020 vintage of Château de Parnay’s Chemin des Murs Saumur Blanc is a refined and expressive Loire Chenin Blanc. It blends ripe orchard and stone‐fruit generosity with shimmering minerality, delivering a white wine that feels both satisfying and fresh. For lovers of quality Chenin Blanc, it offers an excellent value with elegance built in.
Hailing from the Saumur AOC in the Loire Valley of France, this wine is crafted from 100% Chenin Blanc grown on the historic Château de Parnay estate. The Chemin des Murs parcel is a walled vineyard—a distinctive “clos” in which vines are planted in a unique micro‐terroir setting. Hand‐harvested grapes release into careful vinification, including barrel fermentation and aging that bring texture and complexity. The result is a wine rooted in terroir, accredited organic or low intervention practice, and matured to balance fruit, freshness and structure.
One reviewer described the 2020 as showing “a luminous pale straw hue, offering an aromatic bouquet of quince, honeysuckle and a whisper of wet stone minerality.”
Another professional noted the palate’s dynamics: “round and mellow attack with notes of preserved lemon and grapefruit, natural freshness and classic Saumur minerality.”
A retail tasting commentary added: “on the nose you’ll find very ripe white and yellow fruits—apricots, peaches, quinces and Mirabelle plums—with a hint of oak from barrel age and a touch of milk caramel.”
These professional impressions cohere around a consensus: the wine manages richness and ripeness while retaining Loire clarity and terroir definition.
Nose: Pale straw‐yellow in the glass, with aromas of apricot, peach, quince, and Mirabelle plum. Subtle barrel hints bring a touch of milk caramel and warm spice.
Palate: The entry is smooth and enveloping—ripe stone fruit framed by lemon zest and grapefruit brightness. A fine mineral thread underpins the richness, adding lift and tension.
Finish: Clean but substantial—moderate length with fine chalky minerality, a touch of oak spice in the background, and lingering fruit echo.
