Domaine Roger Sabon 2021 Lirac

The 2021 Domaine Roger Sabon Lirac is a vibrant Southern Rhône red that exemplifies the elegance and depth of the Lirac appellation. Crafted from a blend of 70% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre, and 10% Carignan, the wine is sourced from 50-year-old vines rooted in sandy, clay-limestone soils. This terroir imparts a refined structure and aromatic complexity to the wine.

Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks with a 30-day maceration period, followed by aging for nine months in large oak foudres and neutral 500-liter French oak demi-muids. The result is a medium brick-red wine offering a perfumed nose of red and black berry fruits, lilac, violet, and bramble. On the palate, it is medium-bodied with silky tannins, showcasing flavors of ripe berries, spice, and a touch of pepper, culminating in a long, elegant finish.

This wine pairs beautifully with dishes such as lamb kebabs, ribeye steak with Roquefort sauce, or Gouda cheese. With an alcohol content of 15%, it is best enjoyed between 2023 and 2029.
