This expression comes from Diageo’s Johnnie Walker portfolio, one of Scotland’s most-recognized blended whisky brands. Gold Label Reserve is a no-age-statement blend crafted by the master blender to deliver balance and richness across Highland, Speyside and other regions. It features a core of malt whisky from Clynelish Distillery, supported by selected grain and malt whiskies. The blend is matured in a mix of bourbon- and sherry-type casks, then married for consistency and bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof). The overall aim is to provide luxury in everyday moments—making premium quality accessible without the decade-long age statement.
Nose: Opens with rich honey, sweet cream, vanilla-bean and soft caramel. A tropical fruit note (mango or banana, depending on interpretation) emerges alongside a faint wisp of smoke and delicate oak.
Palate: Smooth and richly textured—honey-cream sweetness leads, followed by vanilla custard, toffee and tropical fruit (pear or banana). Mid-palate brings gentle oak spice and a hint of roasted nuts.
Finish: Soft and lingering. The sweetness fades into mild smoke, oak tannin and a touch of malt grain dryness. The finish is refined and inviting rather than aggressive.
