Patrón Ahumado Reposado is a daring, smoky twist on a classic reposado: the sweetness of agave and oak meets charcoal, mesquite, and pepper smoke. It’s a bold sipper for fans of smoky spirits, walking the line between tequila and mezcal sensibility while retaining refinement.

Origins & Craftsmanship

Ahumado Reposado remains true to Patrón’s DNA of 100% Blue Weber agave and careful small-batch production. What sets it apart is that the agave hearts are mesquite- or smoke-kilo wood roasted, imparting a smoky layer on top of the typical cooked-agave profile.

After distillation (in copper pot stills), the spirit is rested in American white oak barrels for a reposado period (months) to round out the edges and integrate smoke, agave, and wood notes. The aging softens the smoke and melds complexity. The bottling is at 40% ABV (80 proof), keeping it approachable but expressive.

Tasting Profile

Nose: Cooked agave, charred wood, mesquite smoke, black pepper, light citrus peel, vanilla bean, and subtle oak spice. Smoke is prominent but balanced, not overpowering.

Palate: The smoke leads, layered over roasted agave, toasted oak, caramel, and warm baking spice. Hints of black pepper, dried fruit (fig or date), and a touch of cocoa or dark chocolate emerge as it evolves.

Finish: Medium to long and warm. The smoke lingers with oak tannins, peppery heat, and residual agave sweetness. The wood and smoke fade gracefully, leaving a savory aftertaste.
