Origins & Craftsmanship
Patrón Añejo Tequila is produced at Hacienda Patrón in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, where the brand has become synonymous with premium tequila craftsmanship. Patrón helped define the ultra-premium tequila category by combining traditional production techniques with meticulous quality control.
The tequila begins with 100% Weber Blue Agave, harvested at peak maturity from the red volcanic soils of the Jalisco Highlands. The agave piñas are slow-baked in traditional brick ovens, a method that gently caramelizes the natural sugars and preserves the plant’s rich agave character.
After cooking, the agave is crushed using a combination of roller mills and the traditional tahona stone wheel, a process that extracts juice while preserving the fibrous character that contributes to flavor complexity. Fermentation takes place in small tanks before the liquid is double distilled in copper pot stills, resulting in a clean yet expressive tequila base.
Patrón Añejo is then aged for a minimum of 12 months in a blend of American oak, French oak, and Hungarian oak barrels. This diverse barrel program allows the tequila to develop layers of vanilla, toasted oak, and spice while maintaining the fresh agave character that defines the spirit.
The result is a tequila that sits beautifully between the brightness of a reposado and the deeper complexity of extra añejo expressions—offering balance, elegance, and versatility.
