GlenDronach Ode to the Dark is a deeply indulgent sherry-forward dram—rich, luxurious, and unapologetically dense. Aged exclusively in Pedro Ximénez casks and bottled at 50.8% ABV, it delivers sumptuous mocha, dark cherry, and espresso-laced caramel layers. This is sherry bomb territory—in the most refined sense—for fans of bold, decadent Highland single malts.
Released as part of GlenDronach’s Master’s Anthology in celebration of their 200th anniversary.
Exclusively matured in exceptional Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, chosen for intense depth and sweetness. Bottled at cask strength of 50.8% ABV, non-chill-filtered, and rich in color.
A symphony of dark sweetness—mocha, ripe black cherry, and deep dark chocolate hit first, followed by crème brûlée, raisin, brown sugar, and warm spice. Notes of coffee bean and treacle add further richness.
Smooth, velvet-laden mouthfeel that carries indulgent flavors of espresso, creme caramel, and black grape, weaving into luxurious layers of mint‑chocolate ganache and sweet dried fruit.
The long finish shines with dark fruit sweetness, cocoa bitterness reminiscent of high cocoa dark chocolate, a hint of saline, and warming black pepper. The end is more espresso-sharp than sweet for some—bitter notes linger and build character.
