Origins & Craftsmanship

• A Tale of Spices is part of Glenmorangie’s “A Tale Of” series—a line of concept whiskies each inspired by a theme (e.g. A Tale of Winter, A Tale of Ice Cream, A Tale of Tokyo, etc.). 

• This expression is 46% ABV (92 proof). 

• The finishing approach is ambitious: it “marries four cask finishes” — Moroccan red wine, new charred oak, Pedro Ximénez sherry, and shaved toasted red wine casks (i.e. toasted staves inside red wine casks) to build layers of spice, color, and texture. 

• The concept behind the whisky: to capture the “mosaic of flavours at spice markets” — i.e. the aromatic, colorful, tactile experience of a bazaar as translated into whisky form.

“A perfumed riot of rose, carnation, jasmine and lilac … spices: cumin, saffron, nutmeg, ginger, chili, anise. Palate bursts with sizzling ginger, black pepper, and mustard seed, balanced by mint toffee sweetness and sugar-coated almonds.”
