Origins & Craftsmanship
This expression hails from the well-regarded La Alteña Distillery in the high-altitude Jalisco region of Mexico, where the Camarena family has used estate-grown 100 % Blue Weber agave and traditional production methods. The piñas are slow-roasted in stone ovens and crushed using the tahona wheel, then double-distilled in copper stills. Paradiso is then aged for approximately five years in French-oak barrels that formerly held cognac, giving it a distinctive finish and elevating its character. The collaboration between master distiller Don Felipe Camarena and cognac artisan Alain Royer underscores the cross-category craftsmanship behind this tequila.

Tasting Profile

• Nose: A rich bouquet opens with warm butterscotch and caramel, layered with baked agave sweetness, roasted almonds and a gentle hint of smoke. Underneath are subtle notes of dark cherry, hazelnut and polished leather.

• Palate: Medium-full in body and very refined. Initial flavours bring roasted agave and honeyed vanilla, transitioning into toasted oak, dried fig, dark chocolate and mild tobacco leaf. A refined spice (white pepper or cinnamon) emerges mid-palate.

• Finish: The conclusion is long and plush, offering lingering caramel, toasted wood, warm nut and a final wave of agave-derived minerality. The influence of the cognac-barrel maturation brings elegant dry oak and a whisper of grape-wine residue that lifts the classic tequila profile.
