Produced by El Tesoro at the La Alteña distillery in the Jalisco Highlands of Mexico, this release belongs to the “Mundial Collection”—a limited-edition series where El Tesoro teams with other premium distillers to experiment with cask finishing.
For this edition, their Añejo tequila was finished for 12 months in charred oak barrels previously used for Knob Creek Rye Whiskey. The rye barrels contribute added spice, vanilla, cinnamon and oak character. Bottled at approximately 40% ABV, this is a one-time release designed for collectors and aficionados of crossover barrel finishes.

Tasting Profile

Nose: Rich cooked highland agave opens the glass, followed by ripe stone fruit (peach, apricot), fresh pineapple, and warm pastry dough. Vanilla married with caramel, a hint of leather and faint floral top notes.
Palate: A smooth entry brings roasted agave sweetness, then black pepper and cinnamon spice from the rye cask finish. Dark chocolate and orange peel combine with oak-tannin warmth and a subtle grainy rye-barrel character.
Finish: Long and layered. Spice and oak linger, together with mineral undertones, dried citrus rind, and a final echo of gentle leather and rye-barrel saltiness—leaving a refined and unusual tequila footprint.
