Bearn is another obscure region in Southwestern France, about 15 minutes from the Basque border. Its red wines are like the missing link between
Madiran and Irouleguy. Made with 60% tannat and equal parts cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc, this deep red has a bit less acid than Irouleguy
and less tannin than Madiran. It works wonderfully with roasted or grilled red meats and hearty vegetarian dishes.
