Our Original Cask Strength is the purest way to experience the taste created by the land, sea and air of Islay. Aged 10 years, it’s barrier-filtered from the cask to remove unwanted char particles – and that’s all that comes between you and the real Laphroaig.
We don’t chill-filter our Original Cask Strength, and we don’t reduce its natural strength. So, what you pour is what we draw from the barrel — the heart of charred seasoned oak barrels, our blue peat smoke and nutty barley, in a truly natural experience.
Batch 16 is our most powerful expression within the Cask Strength family, characterised by a 58.5% proof point and notes of vanilla and sea salt intermingled with hints of freshly ground black pepper and pork crackling. A dram poured neat will fill the nose with aromas of sweet apples and caramelised pastry, underpinned with a tang of cereal and tanned leather notes. The finish, a mixture of gentle spice, charred oak and smoked mackerel with an oily mouthful. "
