PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
This 2025 instalment of The Macallan’s annual Classic Cut series is a refined and bold experience: bottled at 50.6% ABV, it delivers vibrant, luxury-level flavour—ripe citrus, sweet dessert notes and elegant oak spice—that elegantly balances intensity with finesse.
Origins & Craftsmanship
From the heart of The Macallan Estate in Speyside, Scotland, this limited-edition single malt is matured in a carefully selected combination of sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks, alongside ex-bourbon barrels. The choice of wood is at the core of The Macallan’s craftsmanship: the oak delivers depth, richness and distinctive character. For this edition, the whisky-making team chose the “cut” of strength at 50.6% ABV to showcase the malt’s full expression without excessive dilution.
Critics Reviews
Official tasting notes highlight a nose of orange oil, barley sugar and velvety milk chocolate; with a drop of water unveiling creamy vanilla panna cotta and freshly baked apple turnover.
On the palate, the review commentary mentions icing sugar sweetness with grapefruit and mandarin, lemon-zested meringue and caramelised almonds; the finish is said to bring more grapefruit, melon and warming oak spice.
Industry press notes this ninth release maintains the series’ spirit of “anything but classic” by blending tradition with modern wood-programme nuance.
Tasting Profile
Nose: Bright and inviting – orange oil lift, barley sugar sweetness, milk chocolate richness; with some water added the profile evolves into creamy vanilla panna cotta and fresh-baked apple turnover.
Palate: Smooth yet substantial – icing sugar sweetness gives way to fresh grapefruit and mandarin, lemon-zest meringue, and caramelised almonds; the oak influence stays lively but balanced.
Finish: Long and polished – lingering grapefruit and melon, a gentle oak-spice warmth, and a soft echo of lemon zest that leaves the palate clean yet satisfied.
