PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The A.D. Laws San Luis Valley Rye is a standout rye whiskey—heritage grain meets high-altitude terroir, delivering rich spice, fruity brightness, and elegant structure. Whether sipped neat or mixed in cocktails, it offers a truly Colorado-crafted rye experience.
Crafted from 100% heirloom San Luis Valley rye, grown between 7,500–8,000 feet — its high-altitude climate imparts vivid spice and fruit character.
The rye is a rare semi-wild strain, revived through sustainable farming, adding unique regional personality.
Mash bill: 95% rye, 5% heirloom barley; aged at least 4 years in new 53-gallon charred oak barrels
Bottled at 47.5% ABV (100 proof) under Bottled-in-Bond or cask-strength formats — Colorado’s first bonded rye
Offers a delightful mix of baking spice, orange oil, floral perfume, and a touch of black tea—bright and inviting
Rich flavors: salted toffee, black tea, stewed fig, sweet mint, and bursts of tropical fruit (green mango, melon)
Cask-strength versions further bring forward crisp citrus, baking spice, and golden raisin notes
Bold and lingering—peppery green peppercorn, mint, with a dry, smoky oak backbone, offering bright herbal lift
Cask-strength variants add spicy char and oak-smoke depth
Winner of “Best American Rye 12 Years and Under” at the 2023 World Whiskies Awards
Noted by The Whiskey Wash as a "full-bodied, well-balanced" craft rye
A true grain-to-glass, terroir-forward rye with heirloom grain and Colorado air driving its soulful complexity
Versatile in presence, but unapologetically bold — especially in cask-strength bottles.
Neat or with a few drops of water: opens up smooth minty, citrus, and toffee layers.
Cocktail-ready: ideal for spice-driven classics like Rye Old Fashioneds or cocktails needing a uniquely lively rye twist.
47.5% ABV, 750 ml, From Denver, Colorado
"8,000 feet above sea level, in Colorado’s San Luis Valley, the Cody family has been cultivating this low yield, semi-wild rye grain since the 1930s. We fell in love with how it ferments and distills into a terroir-driven, unapologetic whiskey.

"Every drop of whiskey we sell is made 100% from grain to bottle at our distillery located in Denver, Colorado. We have never sourced one drop of whiskey and we never will. We let American whiskey’s four mother grains inspire us to not only create our four grain straight bourbon, but also to break each grain out into its own expression, showcasing its contribution to the bourbon.” — Al Laws
