Hailing from the Aberfeldy Distillery in the Scottish Highlands, this expression is part of their “Red Wine Cask” collection. The whisky was matured for 15 years in traditional whisky casks before being finished in Cabernet Sauvignon wine casks sourced from California’s Napa Valley. The Napa casks impart berry, spice and oak-derived nuance to the distillery’s classic malt foundation. Bottled at 43% ABV, this whisky balances accessibility with premium craftsmanship.
Nose: A warm honeyed foundation gives way to vibrant raspberry jam, Parma violets and freshly ground coffee beans. Subtle cinnamon and oak spice add depth.
Palate: Smooth and medium-bodied, with sweet malt and honey up front. Red-berry flavours (ripe raspberry, red-currant) dance with light oak spice and soft cocoa or mocha tones.
Finish: Refined and gentle, finishing with a tickle of cinnamon, mellow oak tannin and a lingering glow of honeyed malt and red-fruity echoes.
