PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Gildardo Partida comes from a Jalisco family that has spent more than a century dedicated to the craft of tequila-making — a lineage that also produces the well-regarded Cava de Oro and Gran Reserva de Don Alberto labels. Adictivo Reposado is built from 100% Blue Weber agave, cooked in traditional brick ovens in the lowlands around El Arenal — the town known throughout Mexico as the "Gateway to Tequila Country" — with the juice extracted using a Stone Roller Mill before being twice distilled for purity. Unlike its sibling Doble Reposado, which undergoes a second, additional cask finish, the standard Reposado follows a more straightforward path: eight months of maturation entirely in French oak barrels, a choice specifically made to preserve subtler, more restrained oak character rather than the more aggressive char intensity that new American oak would deliver.
The tequila pours a bright straw color with golden sparkles, opening with wood and cooked agave on the nose, joined by caramel, honey, and vanilla. The Rum Howler Blog's independent reviewer described "melded notes of vanilla, butterscotch and sweet agave," noting the agave character itself as "somewhat restrained, as if it had been reined in during the production process," alongside "nice peppery spices" and notes of "grilled pumpkin/squash and pineapple," with just a hint of dry oak spice. On the palate: smooth, prolonged, and moderately sweet, delivering caramel, honey, and butterscotch against strong oak notes, closing on a finish that's genuinely long for a reposado, with mild alcohol and lingering sweetness.
Community feedback on this tequila runs a genuinely wide range — some drinkers on Agave Matchmaker have called it a "guilty pleasure" and praised its smooth, easy-drinking character, while others found certain batches "too sweet" or noted a slightly syrupy finish. That's worth knowing going in: this is unmistakably a sweeter, oak-forward, dessert-leaning style of reposado rather than a lean, agave-forward one, and it tends to please drinkers looking for exactly that kind of soft, mellow sipping experience. This 8-count pack of individual 50ml bottles offers an easy, low-commitment way to find out which camp you fall into.
Adictivo Tequila was founded by Gildardo Partida, a third-generation tequilero whose family has been dedicated to the art of tequila production for more than 100 years — the same family behind the respected Cava de Oro and Gran Reserva de Don Alberto labels. The tequila is crafted from 100% Blue Weber agave, cultivated and harvested in the lowlands surrounding El Arenal, Jalisco. Agave piñas are baked in traditional brick ovens, with the cooked agave juice extracted using a Stone Roller Mill before undergoing double distillation.
The Reposado expression is aged eight months entirely in French oak barrels — a choice the brand credits with lending the tequila its golden hue and wood-driven sweetness while preserving more subtle, restrained oak character than new charred American oak would produce. Depending on export market, bottling proof has historically ranged from 35% to 40% ABV, with the standard domestic bottling at 40% ABV / 80 proof. This particular offering presents the tequila in a set of eight individual 50ml bottles.
