Crafted by Marchesi Antinori at their historic Castello della Sala estate in Umbria, San Giovanni della Sala represents a signature expression of Orvieto Classico Superiore. The vineyards sit on clay-rich and calcareous soils that impart both structure and lift to the fruit. Moderate Mediterranean influence and cooling breezes allow slow ripening and preservation of natural acidity.

The 2024 blend features a thoughtful assembly of traditional and complementary white grape varieties—principally Grechetto and Procanico (Trebbiano Toscano), with supporting roles from Pinot Bianco and Viognier. Each variety was harvested at optimal ripeness and fermented separately in stainless steel to preserve vibrant aromatics and varietal purity. After fermentation, the components were blended and given time on fine lees to build texture and mid-palate breadth while maintaining freshness and clarity.
