Archie Rose Single Malt Australian Whisky 750ml

This is the whisky that made Archie Rose’s name. The Single Malt is the centerpiece of the range: made by Archie Rose Distilling Co. in Sydney, the city’s first new distillery since 1853, from six different Australian barley malts, including local heirloom and aromatic roasted varieties grown, in the distillery’s words, “in rich red ochre earth where the land does the talking.” Everything is done in-house: the whisky is fermented, distilled, matured, and bottled by Archie Rose’s own team at its Sydney distillery, led by master distiller Dave Withers. It’s not sourced from another producer.

The maturation is distinctly Australian. The whisky is aged in Australian fortified wine (apera) casks as well as European and American oak, in the maritime air of coastal Sydney, where the climate speeds maturation and adds richness. The distillery describes the result as “luscious and balanced, delivering notes of slow-roasted pecans, tropical fruit, and homemade toffee.” Other tasting notes find “bold banana and coffee on the nose meet toffee, oak, and dried fruits on the palate, finishing with maple sweetness, tobacco spice, and a rich nutty depth.” It’s bottled at 46% ABV (92 proof).

The awards are extensive. It’s been named Australia’s Best Single Malt Whisky seven times, at competitions including the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, World Whisky Masters, the World Whiskies Awards, the Luxury Masters, the SIP Awards, the Bartender Awards, and the ASCOT Awards. In 2026, it won Gold and 95 points at the IWSC and Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, following a Double Gold at the same competition in 2025 and a Gold and Consumer Choice Award at the 2025 SIP Awards. It was also named World’s Best Single Malt Whisky at the Luxury Masters Asia.

Archie Rose is entering the US this month, backed by actor Chris Hemsworth, who joined founder Will Edwards as co-owner in August 2026 and collaborated on the new bottle. The whisky’s credentials were already well established: more than 450 global awards over twelve years. It’s rich, fruity, and nutty, with more tropical fruit and toffee than most Scotch, a good pick for adventurous single malt drinkers, and a natural way to explore Australian whisky.
