PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Auchentoshan 12 Year Old is a delicate, triple-distilled Lowland single malt that offers a refined balance of citrus, vanilla, and nutty sweetness, layered with light oak and floral hints. It’s smooth, approachable, and perfect for those who prefer subtle elegance over bold peat or heavy sherry influence.
| Feature | Detail |
|---|---|
| Producer / Distillery | Auchentoshan Distillery, Lowlands, Scotland |
| Age | 12 years |
| ABV / Bottle Strength | 40.0% ABV |
| Distillation | Triple distilled — a signature method for Auchentoshan giving smoother texture and lighter spirit character. |
| Maturation / Cask Type | Matured in a combination of ex-bourbon casks and some ex-sherry casks; lightly oaked; some retailers/notes mention both bourbon and sherry influence. |
| Aspect | Notes |
|---|---|
| Appearance | Golden honey tones — warm gold colour. |
| Nose / Aroma | Distinctive crème brûlée, toasted almonds, citrus burst (lime or tangerine), green leaf / grassy freshness, vanilla sponge cake, honey, and some caramelized sugar. Floral and nutty hints (almonds). |
| Palate / Taste | Smooth and relatively light-bodied; sweet vanilla, honey, toffee; oak spices present but gentle; fruit leaning citrus / stone fruit, perhaps apricot or light orchard fruit; nutty undertones; some mild baking spice. |
| Finish | Medium length; nutty and dry oak tones; lingering citrus zest; ginger or gentle spice; pleasant warmth without being overpowering. |
Triple Distillation: It’s one of the few Scotch single malts fully triple-distilled, and that gives it a smoother and lighter character than many double-distilled malts.
Balance of casks: The mix of bourbon and sherry maturation adds both sweetness & vanilla (from bourbon) and some richer, deeper tones from sherry, without going into heavy sherry bomb territory.
Lowland style: As a Lowland whisky, it's softer, floral, lighter in smoke or peat (basically unpeated), good for those who dislike heavy peat or overpowering wood.
Very drinkable neat or with minimal water; smooth texture works well for both whisky newcomers and those who appreciate finesse.
Good value in its category—12 years in casks, decent complexity, recognizable brand.
Floral, citrus, and nutty notes make it nice for aromatic enjoyment; also in cocktails where you want whisky that doesn’t dominate.
Bottle Size: All bottles are 750ML/700ML unless otherwise noted.
21 and Over: Adult Signature Required
