Big Nose Kate Western Whiskey is a boldly crafted American blend that celebrates frontier spirit—a layered and complex whiskey offering rich malt-and-rye dynamics with a distinctively adventurous profile.
Created in Santa Fe, New Mexico by master blender Melissa Heim, this whiskey is a unique blend of straight American rye whiskey and American single-malt whiskey. Its mash bill at bottling is approximately 53.2 % rye and 46.8 % malted barley. The spirits are sourced from top U.S. producers, aged 4–6 years, then batch-blended and bottled at 45 % ABV (90 proof). Non-chill-filtered, this expression is crafted with intention—inspired by the adventurous life of frontier icon Big Nose Kate (Maria Izabella Magdolna Horony) and the rugged landscape she inhabited.
Nose: Opens with dried fruit compote, biscuit-like grain, dark chocolate and a hint of coffee, followed by bright touches of green apple and orange peel.
Palate: Rich and full-bodied—dry sherry characteristics meld with cherry fruit, cereal grain and subtle rye spice. As it unfolds, baking spices, cocoa and green apple skin emerge.
Finish: Smooth yet lingering—warm spice and cocoa dominate, with a gentle return to grain-and-malt complexity and a clean, slightly dry oak edge.
