PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
A refined expression of traditional Italian amaro, Braulio Amaro Alpino offers a deeply aromatic, herb-forward profile anchored in alpine botanicals and graceful barrel aging. Its nuanced bitterness and warming herbal complexity make it exceptional as an after-dinner digestif or a thoughtful addition to elevated cocktails.
Hailing from Bormio in Italy’s Valtellina region near the Stelvio National Park, Braulio Amaro Alpino traces its roots to a secret botanist’s recipe developed in 1875 by Dr. Francesco Peloni, a pharmacist and expert in local herbs. The precise blend of 13 herbs and botanicals—including gentian, juniper, wormwood and yarrow—is closely guarded and passed through generations. Braulio’s production involves macerating these botanicals in alcohol, followed by an extended two-year aging period in Slavonian oak barrels that imbues the amaro with maturity, depth, and balanced complexity. This traditional regimen reflects a heritage of alpine craftsmanship and a dedication to authenticity that has endured for over a century.
Nose: Intricate herbal bouquet of alpine botanicals with juniper, menthol-tinged mint, hints of citrus peel, and earthy gentian—evoking fresh mountain air and meadow herbs.
Palate: Richly herbal and assertively bittersweet, with layers of gentian, wormwood, and chamomile interwoven with sage and subtle citrus zest. A touch of honeyed sweetness balances the bitterness, while the mouthfeel remains warming and slightly viscous.
Finish: Long, complex, and lingering—bitterness persists alongside cooling menthol notes, a whisper of licorice, and floral echoes that gradually recede to a clean, herbal close.
