Breckenridge Distillery built its early reputation on sourced bourbon so well-selected that, before the term "non-distiller producer" became common knowledge among whiskey drinkers, plenty of people simply assumed it was fully aged Kentucky bourbon. These days, the distillery leans increasingly on its own in-house distillate, and the High Proof Blend is a direct expression of that evolution — the same core blend as Breckenridge's standard 92-proof Bourbon Whiskey, but bottled undiluted at a considerably more assertive 105 proof, preserving more of the whiskey's raw barrel character in the process.
The blend combines Breckenridge's own house distillate — a mash bill of 56% corn, 38% rye, and 6% malted barley, made with Colorado Rocky Mountain spring water — with additional sourced straight bourbons from undisclosed distilleries, all aged a minimum of two years. That extra rye proportion gives the whiskey real spice presence, and the higher proof genuinely changes the drinking experience relative to the standard release.

Breaking Bourbon's professional tasting found "the High Proof Blend is a noticeable improvement over their 86 proof version. Its mouthfeel and robustness are welcomed, but it still suffers from a simplistic flavor profile. Despite this, what's in the bottle is a solid pour... I do think the grain notes add to the overall flavor profile, and unlike other young bourbons, actually provide an extra dimension to it." At 105 proof, you would imagine that it may be overpowering, but that is completely not the case. My first sip was delicate, as pepper and vanilla rolled around on my palate. It does not drink like a young bourbon but at only two years old, it is scary the amount of flavor it has developed."
