The estate’s diverse soils and microclimates—from hillside slopes to valley floor parcels—contribute to complexity, intensity, and distinct regional character.

The 2023 harvest was widely celebrated in Napa for its excellent growing conditions, fostering vibrant fruit expression and refined tannic structure. Grapes for this commemorative wine were hand-harvested at optimal ripeness, destemmed, and fermented in small lots to preserve varietal purity and site signature. The wine matured in French oak barrels, selected to enhance structure and complexity without overshadowing the fruit. This release is crafted as a unified estate expression, designed to reflect both the vineyard’s breadth and Chimney Rock’s storied history of Cabernet excellence.

James Suckling awards the 2023 Chimney Rock Cabernet Sauvignon 94 points, praising its “deep layers of raspberry and black cherry, with hints of dark chocolate and baking spice, complemented by bright acidity and a long, polished finish.” 

In addition, Vinous (Antonio Galloni) scores the estate Cabernet 91 points, noting that the 2023 blend is “soft, pliant, and inviting, with black cherry and plum framed by new leather and cedar,” and highlighting its accessibility with medium-term cellaring potential.
