PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Clase Azul 2025 Día de Muertos is a lavish, collectible tequila that fuses cultural storytelling, artistic design, and barrel aging. It’s part of their Nuestros Recuerdos limited-edition series, which annually honors aspects of the Mexican Day of the Dead tradition. For serious collectors, occasional sippers, or those who appreciate artisan presentation, it’s a standout. Because it’s aged and finished with bold barrels (American whiskey + Scotch), it carries richness, smoke, and layered depth—less “fun cocktail tequila,” more “display & contemplative sip.”
The 2025 Día de Muertos by Clase Azul is as much a symbolic closing chapter as it is a tequila. As the finale in the five-year series, it’s designed to encapsulate all the artistry, storytelling, and craftsmanship of the Nuestros Recuerdos line. Expect it to lean heavily into premium barrel-aging, nuance, and decorative presentation. Its purpose is both to be sipped and revered — a collector’s release as much as a spirit to enjoy. Because it's a final edition, it may push boundaries in maturation or finishing compared to earlier releases.
Part of Clase Azul’s Día de Muertos / Nuestros Recuerdos series: each year a new thematic edition (Sabores, Colores, Aromas, Música) appears.
Aged 26 months añejo, first aged in American whiskey casks, then finished in Scotch whisky casks from Skye and Speyside, before recombining.
Bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof).
The decanter is artistic and symbolic: a plum-colored ceramic piece with a 24K gold-plated movable Catrina ornament (accordion-playing skeletal figure) handcrafted via artisans in Tesistán, Jalisco.
The ornament is made of ~40 individual parts from 10 separate molds, assembled by hand.
Only 10,000 decanters allocated for this edition.
| Element | Notes |
|---|---|
| Color / Appearance | Intense gold (amber tones) from the extended aging and oak influence. |
| Nose / Aroma | Honey, peat smoke, nutmeg, dried plum. |
| Palate / Taste | Smoke (peat), honey sweetness, cinnamon, with hints of chocolate in the mid to late palate; layers of oak influence from both American and Scotch barrels. |
| Finish | Smoky, lingering — the oak and smoke notes persist, with echoes of sweet honey, spice, and chocolate. |
Neat / Sipping Serve: Best in a wide tulip or snifter glass to let aroma evolve.
Cocktails: This is more of a contemplative sip tequila, but can be used in high-end tequila Old Fashioned or lightly modified aged tequila cocktails.
Pairings:
• Dark chocolate, chocolate desserts — echoes the chocolate & smoke tones
• Smoked or grilled meats (especially with sweet glazes)
• Nuts and dried fruit — roasted almonds, figs, plums
• Rich cheeses — aged gouda, manchego
