Del Maguey Chichicapa Mezcal Espadín is a cult classic in the mezcal world—offering a harmonious balance of smoky depth, tropical fruit, and earthy minerality that speaks to its small-village roots and artisanal soul.

Chichicapa Mezcal is the classic archetype of a great Oaxacan broad valley mezcal and one of the most universally recognizable expression of Del Maguey.

It’s made from local Espadín and twice-distilled in wood-fired copper pot stills.

Chichicapa has a relatively light nose, yet is deep and sweet on the tongue with lots of citrus and a very complex character. It has a long finish with developing smokiness and a hint of chocolate and mint at the end.

Two hours south Oaxaxa, and 2 hours to the west on a dirt road. Chichicapa is separated from the valley of Oaxaca by a mountain range. The valley is broad, about thirty miles deep and ten miles wide.

Faustino Garcia Vasquez is the maker of Chichicapa. He is a humble and talented craftsmen with great respect for the ancient processes.
