Desert Door Texas Sotol Oak-Aged is a distinctive American desert spirit that bridges the worlds of tequila, mezcal, and young whiskey. Made from wild-harvested sotol plants in West Texas and aged in American oak barrels, it retains the herbal, earthy character of sotol while gaining the caramel, vanilla, and oak tones of barrel maturation. The result is a uniquely Texan sipping spirit—smooth, aromatic, and versatile enough for both neat pours and whiskey-style cocktails.

Desert Door Distillery, located in Driftwood, Texas, produces sotol from the wild Dasylirion (desert spoon) plant, which grows naturally across the Chihuahuan Desert. Unlike tequila or mezcal, sotol is not made from agave, though it is distilled using similar methods and shares some flavor characteristics.
The plants used for Desert Door are sustainably wild-harvested from the West Texas desert, then cooked, fermented, and distilled into a clear spirit.
For the Oak-Aged expression, a portion of the distillate is matured in charred virgin American white oak barrels for roughly two years, adding depth, structure, and whiskey-like richness to the naturally herbaceous base spirit.
This aging process transforms the bright, grassy character of the original sotol into a richer profile with warm spice, vanilla sweetness, and subtle wood influence while maintaining the distinctive desert-herb identity of the plant.
Nose
