Dewar’s French Smooth is a bright, approachable blended Scotch with a fruity twist. The Calvados / apple spirit cask finishing adds a layer of orchard fruit character to the established Dewar’s “Double Aged” style. It’s friendly enough for mainstream drinkers yet offers enough nuance to interest those exploring cask finishes.
Dewar’s calls this expression French Cask Smooth, an 8-year-old blended Scotch whisky finished in apple spirit (Calvados) casks.
It is the fifth installment in Dewar’s “Smooth” cask series (after Caribbean, Japanese, Portuguese, etc.).
The base is their Double-Aged blend, which is matured and then married in oak to further integrate flavors before finishing.

Serve: Neat or with a few drops of water in a tulip / Glencairn glass. The apple notes open nicely with gentle aeration.
