PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Domaine Laroche is genuinely one of Chablis's most historic names — founded in 1850, with its wines aged in the domaine's own historic cellars at the Obédiencerie, a medieval monastic site in the heart of Chablis town. Since 2009, the estate has been part of the Advini group, which carries on the estate's heritage of producing wines of what the producer describes as "great precision," "crystalline expression," and "assertive elegance." Les Beauroys is a genuinely distinctive Premier Cru within that lineup, described by the domaine as "the most charming Premier Cru located on the upper slopes of a spur overlooking the Beine and Serein valleys" — "refined, fruity, and mineral above all, with an elegant finish."
The wine comes from a 3.41-hectare parcel of vines averaging roughly 30 years old, planted on south to southeast-facing slopes, on the classic Kimmeridgian soil — marly limestone typical of the appellation — giving the wine its genuinely "vivid structure, pronounced minerality, and beautiful aromatic complexity." Whole clusters are pressed immediately in a pneumatic press to preserve fruit purity, then the juice divides between oak barrels and stainless steel tanks, aging 12 months in a deliberate 50/50 split of French oak and steel, with measured use of new wood — preserving freshness and balance rather than masking them. Farming follows the principles of sustainable viticulture.
Wine Spectator scored the 2022 vintage 92 Points, while Wine Enthusiast's score is 92 as provided. Burghound's Allen Meadows scored the wine in the 88-91 range, with Neal Martin at 87. The producer's own description captures the style directly: "this solar wine showcases rich aromas of white stone fruits and typical notes of star anise and spices," the finish "subtle and gently saline, tinged with a tension that goes hand in hand with the length." A CellarTracker community taster who tasted the 2022 at a Laroche and Leflaive event scored it 92+, noting "great balance of salinity-shell/minerality, lemon rind, and slightly toasted citrus and tropical fruits," with "salinity on the forefront throughout with subtle hints of citrus, lime and lemon dancing on the palate," calling it "the most approachable and ready to drink of the lineup." This is genuinely precise, mineral-driven Chablis Premier Cru — real Kimmeridgian character from one of the appellation's most storied estates.
Domaine Laroche 2022 Chablis 1er Cru Les Beauroys is produced by Domaine Laroche, founded in 1850 in Chablis, Burgundy, France, part of the Advini group since 2009. The wine is made entirely from Chardonnay, sourced from a 3.41-hectare parcel of roughly 30-year-old vines on south to southeast-facing slopes, on Kimmeridgian marly limestone soils, farmed according to sustainable viticulture principles.
Whole clusters are pneumatically pressed immediately to preserve fruit purity, with juice divided between oak barrels and stainless steel tanks for fermentation. The wine ages 12 months, split between 50% French oak and 50% stainless steel, with measured use of new oak. Bottled at 12.5% ABV, 750ml.
