PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
This 2014-vintage, seven-year-aged expression from Fuenteseca represents a rare and refined tequila experience that transcends typical añejo profiles. It offers deep barrel-influenced richness while retaining surprising vitality and agave character—a collector’s piece and a sipping standout.
Produced by master-distiller Enrique Fonseca in Jalisco, Mexico (NOM 1146), this tequila begins with mature Blue Weber agave grown in the highlands. After harvesting, roasting and double-distillation, the spirit is barrel-aged for seven years—an unusually long period in the category. During ageing, Fonseca experiments with diverse cask types (American white oak, used wine or bourbon barrels) and high-altitude, cool-cellar environments to enrich complexity and preserve agave identity. The “Vintage 2014” designation signals the harvest year and the tailored ageing path.
Nose: A light golden-amber hue opens into aromas of roasted agave sugar, cognac-like warmth, dried figs, chipotle-pepper heat and fresh-cut lemongrass. There are refined undertones of ligero tobacco from an old humidor, sautéed herbs and a hint of green papaya.
Palate: Medium-to-full body. Initial sweetness of cooked agave is layered with warm caramel, vanilla bean, rich oak tannin and subtle black-pepper spice. Mid-palate brings notes of spicy cigar-box cedar, fresh herbal lift, molé-spiced dark fruit and green-apple skin.
Finish: Long and contemplative—oak tannins and spice linger alongside fig compote, sautéed herbs, green-papaya freshness and a dry-rich after-glow. It manages to feel deeply aged yet alive rather than flattened by wood.

"Light gold color. Aromas and flavors of chipotle peppers in mole, fresh cut lemon grass, ligero tobacco in an old humidor, and herbs and peppers on a hot pan with a round, lively, dry medium-to-full body and a tingling, huge, long finish that presents shades of spicy cigar box and figs, mole on green apples, sautéed herbs, and green papaya and chlorophyll. Somehow manages to be both richly barrel-aged while expressing fresh green tones; perplexing, contemplative, well-executed, but most importantly decadently delicious." 98 Points Tastings Review
