PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Heaven Hill built its reputation on Bottled-in-Bond bourbon more than most any other distillery in America, and Double Mash is a genuinely new twist on that tradition — the first Bottled-in-Bond bourbon to unite two entirely separate mash bills within a single bottle. Master Distiller Conor O'Driscoll explained the thinking directly: "Double Mash is a reflection of our understanding of both bourbon making and the Bottled-in-Bond standards that have defined quality American Whiskey for more than a century. By bringing together our traditional and Wheated Bourbon mashbills, we've created a first-of-its-kind Bottled-in-Bond Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey that delivers a distinctly different tasting experience while remaining true to the craftsmanship and authenticity that define Heaven Hill."

The blend runs two-thirds traditional bourbon mash bill (78% corn, 10% rye, 12% malted barley) combined with one-third wheated bourbon mash bill (68% corn, 20% wheat, 12% malted barley) — the same softer recipe found in Heaven Hill's own Old Fitzgerald and Larceny lines. Both components were distilled during the same season and aged nine years, satisfying every requirement of the strict Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897, before bottling at exactly 100 proof. Announced July 15, 2026, and arriving at retailers this past August in limited nationwide quantities, this joins Heaven Hill's award-winning portfolio alongside its standard Bottled-in-Bond, the Heritage Collection, and Grain to Glass releases.

Early independent reception has been genuinely positive. Carbon & Oak's honest, skeptical review found the whiskey developing "something closer to apricot preserves, followed by a little more rye-driven spice, and with additional air, just a touch of peanut and mint," concluding "balanced" is the word that kept coming back — "nothing is screaming for attention" — and recommending it as a genuine "buy," while noting this limited nationwide release is worth calling around for rather than waiting on. Bourbon Obsessed's tasting found "rye spices, caramel, sweet raspberry jam, dark plums, a touch of cinnamon and tart orange peel, light oak" on the nose, developing into "mild simple syrup sweetness, caramel, tannins and oak" on the palate, closing "fairly dry" with lingering white pepper spice. The official tasting notes describe "toasted oak, honey and a hint of white pepper" on the nose, with the palate "bright and rich, offering honey and citrus oil before finishing with rich caramel and baking spices." This is a genuinely ambitious, well-received new release from one of Bourbon's most historically important distilleries — a real showcase of what blending two distinct recipes can achieve within Bottled-in-Bond's strict framework.

Origins & Craftsmanship

Heaven Hill Bottled-in-Bond Double Mash is produced by Heaven Hill Distillery, founded in Kentucky by the Shapira family in 1935 and still family-owned and operated today, maintaining over 2 million barrels aging across more than 70 warehouses in Bardstown. The whiskey unites two completely separate mash bills distilled during the same season: two-thirds of Heaven Hill's traditional bourbon recipe (78% corn, 10% rye, 12% malted barley) and one-third of its wheated bourbon recipe (68% corn, 20% wheat, 12% malted barley) — the softer profile found in Old Fitzgerald and Larceny.

Both components were aged nine years before blending, satisfying every requirement of the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897: one distilling season, one distillery, minimum four years of aging in a federally bonded warehouse, and bottling at exactly 100 proof. Announced July 15, 2026, under Master Distiller Conor O'Driscoll, and released in limited quantities nationwide beginning August 2026. Bottled at 50% ABV / 100 proof, 750ml.
