PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Hemingway Whiskey Company brings together two genuinely distinct legacies: the literary heritage of Ernest Hemingway's own family, and the Call family, whose roots in American whiskey-making stretch back to the late 1700s, when Samuel Call first began distilling on his Kentucky farm. Today the Call family is represented by seventh-generation Master Distiller Ron Call, alongside his sons — Call Family Ambassador Clayton and eighth-generation Master Distiller Jacob, who previously served as Master Distiller at Green River Distilling in Owensboro, Kentucky before joining the family venture. On the Hemingway side, the brand is led by Founder Steve Groth and his sons Kyle, who brings business strategy experience, and Paul, who handles the creative and content side of the company.
This blend represents Hemingway Whiskey Company's core Kentucky Straight Bourbon expression — distilled in Kentucky and bottled by the company in Florida, aged in charred oak, and bottled at a genuinely robust 98 proof (49% ABV). The Barrel Tap describes it as "a rich, full-bodied bourbon" that showcases real "Call family craftsmanship," with "warm spice, caramel & oak" defining the profile, balancing "sweet caramel and rich spice with a refined finish." As a genuinely limited release, it's positioned as a showcase of authentic Kentucky bourbon tradition, distinct from the brand's separate Rye Whiskey Signature Edition, which is finished in rum-seasoned Oloroso sherry casks.
The official tasting notes describe "classic notes of oak, vanilla, and a touch of spice that make Kentucky bourbon a worldwide favorite," delivering "a rich mouthfeel with a smooth, lasting finish." Main Street Liquor's copy confirms the same character, calling it "rich flavors" crafted "with tradition and innovation for a true Kentucky experience." This is genuinely straightforward, well-balanced Kentucky bourbon — best enjoyed neat or with a splash of water to open its complexity, and equally suited to a classic Old Fashioned or Manhattan.
